Tesla Shares Tour of Giga Shanghai and Car Safety Features: Part 1 [VIDEO]

Tesla Greater China has shared the first part of a video titled, “Go Giga, Tesla Giga Principle of Safety.”
The video offers a glimpse of Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai and production of the Model 3 and Model Y when it comes to safety, explaining how cars are able to protect occupants when it comes to various crash scenarios.
Various Tesla engineers explain the safety features inside Tesla’s vehicles, including hollowed side door beams and also the company’s unibody casting advantage.
We learn Tesla uses a 1700MPa grade martensite steel for beams, at a higher grade than most thermal forming steels at 1500MPa grade, to safely protect any intrusions to passengers and the battery pack beneath the car.
Again, we hear about how Tesla uses real-world crash data from its customer fleet to offer passive safety protection through software updates, improving safety over time.
Check out the video below–it’s a marketing video customers in China will likely eat up, and is something EV competitors will strive to duplicate:
