First Tesla Megapack in Hungary to Be Installed by MET Group
The first Tesla Megapack in a Hungarian town is set to be established next year by Switzerland-based energy company, MET Group.
MET Group announced just over a week ago it is installing a Tesla Megapack in Százhalombatta, Hungary in summer 2022, located at the town’s Dunamenti Power Plant.
The Megapack is set to be the first of its kind in the town, providing energy storage for up to 8 MWh of capacity and 4 MW of performance, and will be established as a part of the broader Dunamenti Power Plant innovation project.

With power plants increasingly needing renewable energy storage options, the Megapack is set to provide that while offering a look into more unique, carbon-free power solutions to other organizations, according to Dunamenti Power Plant CEO Péter Horváth.
Horváth said, “The contracted investment project will be one of the key elements of our R&D project launched in April.” Horváth continued, “The future is carbon-free, meaning even the gas-fired power plants providing network flexibility have to be carbon-free as much as possible. The experimental project, based on energy storage, will be a prototype for industrial-quantity applications.”
Other major Tesla Megapack projects have been taking place in the U.S. in both California and Nevada, in addition to Australia – with one “Big Battery” set of Tesla Megapacks now fully operational in Victoria, Australia.
