New Tesla Model Y ‘Test Body’ Seen Rolling into Giga Texas
According to drone pilot Joe Tegtmeyer, who has been covering the construction at Tesla’s new Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, he said today on December 27, 2021, there was a “special delivery” at the site.
“A test Model Y body and alignment rig, both moved in to the north end of the paint shop!”, said Tegtmeyer on Monday morning, noting his video from today is upcoming to his YouTube channel.

Tegtmeyer says this Model Y test body is different than previous, as it has “no floor and test rig suggests it was used for testing and now may be used for calibration. Also, it’s already e-coated.”
Here’s a closer image shared by Tegtmeyer:
Without a floor in this test Model Y body, it’s likely this is ready for Tesla’s upcoming 4680 structural pack. Giga Texas will be mass producing the Model Y with its newer battery pack, and it’s exciting to see what’s to come from the factory in 2022.
It's Teslas goal to launch Giga Texas with 4680 Model Y so this shouldn't be a surprise. It's still exciting to see though!
