Tesla Finally Launches Waypoints for Navigation: ‘Add Stop’ Feature in 2021.40.5

Tesla waypoints 2

This morning Tesla started rolling out its 2021.40.5 software update, and with the update comes a highly-anticipated feature: waypoints.

Waypoints allow owners to select more than one stop during navigation. This new feature called ‘Add Stop’ is in 2021.40.5, and can be seen in the screenshot shared above by TMC forum user ‘Spyderman09’ on their 2021 Model S Plaid (via @SawyerMerritt). The owner is not part of Full Self-Driving beta.

“Add a new stop to your route by tapping the “+” icon on the navigation search button and searching for a destination, or by selecting a pin on the map,” explains Tesla.

Back in September 2020, Tesla CEO Elon Musk replied to a request for waypoints with “fine, we’ll do it already.” Many Tesla customers have long asked for waypoints and now it’s finally here…that is when you get the 2021.40.5 software update.
