Tesla 2021.40.5 Software Update: Release Notes and What’s New

Tesla has started rolling out its 2021.40.5 software update, as noted by @Teslascope, seen on a 2021 Model S Plaid in New Jersey in the United States. This vehicle was coming from 2021.36.5.1 released on October 21 and as of writing, it’s unclear what’s new.

With 2021.40, Tesla added cold weather improvements, Tidal music support, a Traffic-Aware Cruise Control Chime and also new language support.

Update: The 2021.40.5 software update finally brings waypoints to Tesla navigation, known as ‘Add Stop’.

  • Sentry Mode Live Camera Access
  • Add Stop
  • Cold Weather Improvements
  • Tidal
  • Rear Display Improvements
  • Traffic-Aware Cruise Control Chime
  • New Language Support
