With Subaru’s 2023 Solterra announced earlier this year, the electric vehicle (EV) marks Subaru’s first, and is already garnering attention in markets around the world.

Subaru has debuted the first of its all-electric Solterra SUV line, and the company’s Australian arm has been hinting at the fact that a local release down under may be coming soon, according to The Driven.

The vehicle offers about 530 km (329 miles) of range with its all-wheel-drive variant, alongside about 460 km (285 miles) for the front-wheel-drive variant, and the latter of which includes a 71.4kWh battery.

The news comes just weeks after fellow Japanese automaker Toyota unveiled the bZ4X EV SUV, which was developed on a platform in conjunction with Subaru, and it’s not hard to tell from looking at the vehicles.

The Subaru Solterra is set to begin delivering in Japan, the U.S., Europe and China in 2022 – and maybe just as soon in Australia.

The Subaru Solterra will go on show on November 17 at the LA Auto Show, and the company is already in discussion with its Australian global headquarters about launching within the country.

General Manager for Subaru Australia Blair Read said, “The Solterra heralds a new era for the Subaru brand and its global reveal stirs great anticipation and excitement as we see the next expression of Subaru Corporation’s commitment to electrification.”
