Tesla Proactive Recall: Model 3/Y Suspension Bolts Inspection
As an automaker, Tesla must recall vehicles when it detects issues, and a recent recall has begun being issued to some Model 3 and Model Y drivers.
Tesla has sent recall notices to some Model 3 and Y drivers, calling for an inspection of the suspension lateral links on the vehicles’ front suspension units (via Reddit). Drivers receiving the notification are encouraged to schedule a service appointment using the Tesla app to receive the repairs for free.

The notification says that the “lateral link bolts may not have been secured to the correct specifications,” allowing the fastening supports to become loose over time causing abnormal noise. Tesla also said that it isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries due to the issue.
In the recall’s description, Tesla writes, “The front suspension lateral link on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles is attached to the sub-frame using two fasteners. If a fastener is not secured to the correct specification, the fastener may loosen over time or separate from the sub-frame, which could cause the lateral link to separate from the sub-frame.”
Users that aren’t sure whether their vehicles are affected by the recall can use Tesla’s VIN recall search to find out if they will require service or not.
