While the Model Y is an admittedly better candidate for an off-road vehicle than a Model 3, the guys at Grind Hard Plumbing Co were up for the challenge of turning the safest car in the U.S. into a spectacular off-road vehicle.

In addition, we’ve already seen the making of an “off-road” Model Y that involved giving the all-electric CUV a 4″ lift and 31″ off-road tires.

Grind Hard Plumbing Co wasn’t going to settle for just a lift and off-road tires, though, and decided to take things to the next level — the group started with an absolutely totalled, non-operational dual-motor Model 3 Long Range, and worked their way up from the foundations.

The Model 3 the guys salvaged had severe front-end damage and a blown pyro fuse, and needed a number of parts like radiators and control arms replaced. Once the Model 3 was up and running, it was equipped with a custom roll cage tube bumper, pod lights, and a massive 12,000 lb winch.

The Tesla was also treated to a 2″ lift and Falken Wildpeak off-road tires before it was taken out for testing, where the modified off-road vehicle performed impressively well. After all, who doesn’t like an air-conditioned, whisper-quiet off-road vehicle with a comprehensive entertainment system?
