Elon Musk in Talks with Famed Author Walter Isaacson for Biography: Report

Elon Musk has come a long way since Tesla almost going bankrupt in 2008, and now he may be in talks with a best-selling author about making a biography, according to a new report.

Musk is reportedly in talks with biography author Walter Isaacson about the prospect of an upcoming biography about Musk, according to Fox Business (via Benzinga). Isaacson previously wrote a biography on late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, which sold over 3 million copies.

According to the Fox report, Musk and Isaacson spoke over the phone in recent weeks, and more phone conversations are expected to ensue before finalizing any decisions.

For the Steve Jobs biography, Isaacson held over 40 separate interviews, and spent nearly two years writing the book, which would go on to become Isaacson’s most popular piece.

“People close to Isaacson say he has yet to write a formal proposal on the Musk book and has not alerted his publisher, Simon & Schuster, about the possibility. He will formally decide sometime this summer on whether he will go forward with the project after additional meetings with Musk, these people add,” reports Fox Business.

“(He) hasn’t decided what to do and might change” his mind, said a source close to Issacson.

Comparisons have certainly been made before between Musk and Jobs, and even between Tesla and Apple’s playbooks, especially in regards to the sheer amount of subscription-based charges they each offer their customers.

Earlier this year, Musk briefly became the richest person on Earth, before dropping back to the third richest billionaire behind Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and Louis Vuitton’s Bernard Arnault. Musk is currently still richer than both Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg.
