The Ford F-150 Lightning XLT model will be priced from $52,974 USD before tax credits. The truck will have 563 horsepower and 775 ft.lbs of torque, and will launch in mid-2022.
The electric Ford F-150 will be able to go from 0-60mph in the mid 4-second range, which is in line with what we heard from President Biden’s test drive yesterday.
As for towing capacity, the standard range can haul 2,000 pounds, while a maximum towing capacity is slated at 10,000 pounds.
For the interior, we’ll see a 12-inch instrument cluster for the driver, to go with a 15.5-inch infotainment screen on the dash.
The F-150 electric will have onboard scales to estimate your payload to see how it will affect your battery’s range. The front trunk (frunk) has 400 litres of storage space, which are said to be targets for now.
Also, the F-150 Lightning will include an 80-amp charging station able to add about 30 miles of range per house and fully charge the truck from 15% to 100% in approximately 8 hours or so.
Other stats detail the Ford F-150 Lightning will be the first F-Series truck to have independent rear suspension.
An electric truck from Ford, especially its F-150 line to start at under $40,000 puts it in direct pricing competition with Tesla’s entry Cybertruck, which starts at $39,900 USD and includes an estimated 250 mile range.
