Elon Musk Urges People to Move to Starbase, Texas; Will Donate $30 Million to Area
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is urging people to move to Starbase, Texas, to help the space company meet its hiring needs.
On Tuesday morning, Musk said, “Please consider moving to Starbase or greater Brownsville/South Padre area in Texas & encourage friends to do so!”.
“SpaceX’s hiring needs for engineers, technicians, builders & essential support personnel of all kinds are growing rapidly,” added Musk, who also said “Starbase will grow by several thousand people over the next year or two.”

About an hour after his urging of people to move to Texas, Musk revealed he is donating $30 million total to schools and the City of Brownsville.
“Am donating $20M to Cameron County schools & $10M to City of Brownsville for downtown revitalization. Details to follow next week,” said Musk.

Earlier this month, Musk, who now resides in Texas, said he was “creating the city of Starbase, Texas” and “from thence to Mars, and hence the Stars,” added Musk.

SpaceX and Tesla already have buildings and factories in Texas. The city of Starbase would be near the small town of Boca Chica, where SpaceX has a private launch facility, home to this morning’s Starship SN11 test flight, which ended in an explosion.
