Russia Says Elon Musk Never Responded to Follow-Up Over Clubhouse Invite

Last month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to chat with him on the popular audio app, Clubhouse.

At the time, the Kremlin said it Musk’s invite was “interesting” but it needed more time to consider the request.

Now, according to Bloomberg, the Kremlin says it believes Musk’s invite was a “misunderstanding”, after the SpaceX CEO never responded to a follow-up, said spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday.

“Apparently there was some kind of misunderstanding,” said Peskov to reporters, adding, “Most likely, this matter is exhausted.”

On February 13, the day of Musk’s invite, the Tesla leader wrote a follow-up tweet Russian, saying “It would be a great honor to speak with you.”

We’ve reached out to Musk and hope to update this story accordingly.
