“We Need More Elon Musks” Says Bill Gates [VIDEO]
Earlier this month, Tesla CEO Elon Musk appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, and while the topic range was wide, the two joked and Musk speculated that Bill Gates was apparently short on Tesla (TSLA) at one point.
In an interview with CNBC, Bill Gates shared that he thought Musk’s contributions to the climate change effort were noteworthy. While he shared that “he doesn’t talk about his investments,” he also praised Musk’s hard work, stating that we need that kind of climate effort across more industries.
When asked about rumors that he was short on Tesla’s stock, Bill Gates said, “I think what Elon has done with Tesla is fantastic. It’s, you know, probably the biggest single contribution to showing us that electric cars are part of how we solve climate change, and now he’s got a carbon removal challenge.” Gates continued, “So we need more Elon Musks.”
Gates was previously the head of Microsoft, later taking a position with the company as a chairperson, from which he stepped down in 2020. Last week, Microsoft announced a partnership with Volkswagen, in an attempt to build a self-driving platform.
In any case, Gates has been vocally making the case for reducing carbon emissions in recent months with the release of his new book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster. And while he and Musk may not be on the same end of the climate change spectrum, they’re both working towards important shifts in how humanity exists.
