Over-the-air software updates on electric vehicles (EVs) are a nifty technology, especially for those who are new to EVs. They can significantly improve vehicle performance, and they roll out to vehicles automatically when they become available.

On Sunday, a new video originally posted on TikTok depicted a massive parking lot full of Tesla Model 3s receiving over-the-air software updates at the same time (via Reddit).

The video, as posted originally by TikTok user @sergeygusev190 and shared on the Tesla Motors subreddit by Reddit user u/genz_ofcourse, seems to show an automated process using the caution lights as some kind of indicator to a patrol vehicle driving around the lot.

While the original video claims the update comes “via satellite,” the update likely just arrives over a cellular network connection, like regular over-the-air updates. Still, the process is an interesting sight, and it’s tough to say what the flashing caution lights mean or what this miss update process really entails.

In any case, it’s pretty cool to see a ton of Teslas awaiting shipment and being prepped with the right software – and it makes for an interesting light show, at the very least.
