First Look: NIO Auto-Park and Auto-Summon in Action [VIDEO]
Earlier this month, NIO’s stock reached an all-time, immediately following the announcement of its flagship sedan, the NIO ET7.
On Thursday, YouTube channel Mr. P – Nio Videos uploaded a new video featuring the NIO EC6, and showing off its brand new auto-park and summon features. The features downloaded to the vehicle through a recent over the air update, a system the company began offering as recently as December 2020.
The channel’s namesake and host, Mr. P, begins the video inside a parking garage, sharing NIO’s updated auto-park visuals, and also showing that the vehicle doesn’t immediately recognize all the parking spots. Still, when it does, the vehicle’s interface shows a really cool and user-friendly set of parking spot options from which to choose.
After successfully parking, Mr. P gets out and tests the vehicle’s summoning feature quickly, by standing in front of the car with his app open. The car slowly, but surely, follows him as he backpedals, depicting that the summon feature is in full operational mode.
While Tesla unveiled its auto-park and summon capabilities last year, it’s still exciting to see other companies beginning to roll out their own versions of the technology, and it will likely lead to improved systems across the EV board.
