Bentley Bentayga Hybrid SUV Unveiled for the U.S., Canada, China
After recent announcements from Bentley to go hybrid by 2026, and completely electric by 2030, it’s become clear that production will need to kick into high-gear to reach the company’s goals. However, it’s already made its first stride in that direction, set to begin this year.
On Monday, Bentley announced its newest addition to its lineup, the Bentayga Hybrid, now available for order in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and China. The SUV was also created in a completely carbon-neutral workshop, according to Bentley, an impressive feat for a company with no zero-emissions vehicles as of yet.
Bentley’s Bentayga Hybrid has a max speed of 158 mph, and is said to go from 0-60 mph in 5.2 seconds. The company has also said it plans to make hybrid versions of each of its cars, until it can go all-electric.

While Bentley doesn’t yet have any other hybrids or EVs on the road, now is most certainly the time to start building an electric portfolio. With Tesla’s record numbers in 2020, many traditional gas car companies are scrambling to figure out how they fit into the EV puzzle. Unfortunately, many of them may not fit in at all, though only time will tell.
Bentley’s new Bentayga Hybrid looks nice, but it’s unclear whether it will be enough to help sustain the company through a transition to zero-emissions vehicles, and into a competitive spot with Tesla.
