First Polestar 2 EV Deliveries Begin in Canada

In good news for Canadian electric vehicle (EV) enthusiasts, Polestar is set to start delivering the Polestar 2 to customers in Canada. Polestar’s first all-electric car may have seen recall after recall, but it has finally made its way to the Canadian market.

According to a press release, the car will retail for $69,900 CAD and be available across Canada. The same car retails for $59,900 USD in the United States.

“The Polestar 2 places us directly in the center of the burgeoning premium electric vehicle segment and is the car that will propel Polestar toward future growth,” says Hugues Bissonnette, Country Manager for Polestar Canada.

The car is the first equipped with Google’s Android Automotive OS, which supports Google Assistant voice commands and has integrated Google Maps navigation, as well as a design layout that will feel familiar and natural to any Android user.

Polestar has redesigned the buying experience for customers — cars will be available to buy on Polestar.com, where users can also avail the luxury of an at-home test drive or pencil in a contactless delivery.

On top of offering a digital car-buying experience, Polestar is looking to expand its retail space, with plans of opening permanent stores (dubbed ‘Polestar Spaces’) in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal.

The Volvo-owned EV manufacturer will also open temporary stores in Montreal and Vancouver ahead of time to allow customers to experience and order their Polestar EVs.

In addition, the up-and-coming EV maker already has plans to capitalize on its momentum as it confirms the production of the Polestar Precept — an all-electric Sedan that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in February.
