Xpeng CEO Waiting to See if Tesla Will Reveal ‘Million-Mile’ Battery

It’s an exciting time in the world of electric vehicles (EVs), and with Tesla’s Battery Day less than a month away, many are wondering if the world is about to witness history.

Xpeng Motors Vice Chairman and President Brian Gu, is waiting to see if Tesla will reveal its “million-mile” battery on battery day in September, as reported by Yahoo Finance. Since Xpeng doesn’t manufacture its own batteries, the day could have major benefits to Gu and his company, and it could change the world of automotives completely, permanently, and for the benefit of humanity on the cusp of the climate crisis.

Regarding Tesla’s updates, Gu told Yahoo, “We’re all waiting to see what Tesla is going to come out within the battery,” He continued, “So for us, obviously we love to work with the best-in-class technology by the manufacturers. If there is a technology that provides safer, cost-efficient and better cells, we would love to work with them. I think we would look forward to seeing the rapid development which will drive the growth of the overall industry.”

So far, Xpeng has managed to raise $1.5 billion USD in its IPO Thursday, in spite of the fact that the company doesn’t have any vehicles yet. Still, major improvements to Tesla’s battery could be a game-changer for the Chinese company.

As the world awaits major developments in the batteries Tesla can produce, fans are left to speculate what the day will bring for now. Luckily, it’s less than a month away, and it’s certainly going to be worth anticipating.
