Tesla Sales in China Break Records for June as Popularity Continues

As reported by Bloomberg, Tesla has continued to gain traction in China over the past few months. The automotive market is worth hundreds of billions of dollars and electric vehicles have become more popular within recent years.

Due to the global pandemic, sales of electric vehicles fell by 30% in April. Tesla opened Tesla Giga Shanghai this year, which is the first factory outside of the United States. By the end of 2020, Tesla is estimated to sell over 100,000 vehicles from this plant alone and has already surpassed the record of registrations in China.

There was a 32% increase in sales last year with roughly 15,000 China-built Teslas registered. The competition in the EV market is only growing, with other corporations like Mercedes and BMW releasing new models. Model 3 Sedans and Model Y SUVs are reportedly being assembled in the Shanghai factory. In 2025, Tesla is expected to sell over 4 million vehicles, capturing roughly 7% off the automotive market in China.
