Future Tesla Software Update May Bring Weather Radar Nav Screen Overlays
A Twitter user recently asked Tesla CEO Elon Musk if it was possible to have a weather radar that would overlay the sat-nav screen. Its purpose would be to predict storms and wind. Musk replied simply with “I think so”. Other Twitter users also joined in the conversation, discussing how useful it would be- especially through road trips and driving in stormy areas. Another user stated how this would be just as important as the traffic overlay.
@elonmusk is it possible to have a weather radar overlay on the nav screen to help predict storms and wind? That would make a killer connectivity feature!

This comes after the Tesla Owners Silicone Valley account tweeted to Elon, asking for track mode on the new Model Y SUV. Elon Musk simply replied to that “yes”. Having an in-built weather radar would be extremely useful for owners living in areas that have extreme weather conditions.
Ultimately, it would make driving a lot safer and risk-assessment much easier. Electric vehicles tend to struggle in extreme weather situations–since batteries are very temperature sensitive, especially when it comes to winter conditions.
