Elon Musk Delays Tesla Shareholder Meeting, Might Combine It With Battery Day

Tesla’s Battery Day has been propped up as a milestone moment in the company’s life . At one point Tesla CEO Elon Musk even called the event the “most exciting day” in Tesla’s history. However, due to numerous problems and complications caused by the coronavirus outbreak, the event has been postponed a few times now. In fact, Musk even tweeted suggesting an entirely new format for the event in order to account for shelter in place orders and social distancing protocols. Now in a new update, the CEO suggested another change for Battery Day.
The proposed solution is one that conflates the upcoming Tesla shareholder’s meeting with the Battery Day event. With their Q1 earnings report, we’ve already seen Tesla experiment with online formats for its customer relations efforts. But combining the events in such a way leads to an even greater embrace of digital publicity.
Musk shot the idea out on Twitter last night stating, “we will have to postpone annual shareholder meeting, as still no large gatherings allowed by July 7th. Not sure of new date, but am guessing maybe a month or so later.”

Probably good to combine them, since they are converging in time. I’m hopeful we can announce a date after the July 4th week.

A follow-up discussion on the same thread brings the idea of combining the shareholder’s meeting with Battery Day. Musk said he hopes to announce the new dates after the upcoming 4th of July holiday in the United States.
