Tesla Autopilot Update Will Ditch Green Light Traffic Confirmation, Confirms Musk

Tesla’s Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control (TLSSC) feature for Full Self-Driving Autopilot normally requires users to confirm when heading through an intersection with a green light, but that is going to change.

According to a source speaking with @Gasoff2 yesterday, the user shared a tip saying, “next update coming in for EA [Enhanced Autopilot] is no more Green light traffic confirmation with a lead vehicle infront. All I can say now.”

Tesla’s update according to @TeslaOwnersofMA says, “this software update contains an improve to our new Traffic Light and Stop Sign Control feature. Your vehicle will no longer require driver confirmation to continue through green lights while there is a lead vehicle ahead of your and not in a turn lane.”

The change is available for early access users with Tesla software update 2020.24.5.1.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed the change was coming in a response to CleanTechnica’s report on the matter, with the simple reply, “confirmed”.

What does this change mean? As Full Self-Driving Autopilot continues to get better, TLSSC will no longer require a Tesla owner to respond when heading through an intersection with a green light, allowing it to naturally follow the car in front like regular Autopilot.
