The city of Tulsa, Oklahoma has long expressed its desire for a Tesla factory. At first, they set up a measured meme-based campaign online in an attempt to grab the attention of the electric vehicle maker. Now, in a new publicity stunt, the city has taken some even larger strides toward luring Tesla.

As reported by several local news sources in Tesla, the city transformed one of its most stand-out architectural features to appeal to Tesla. The city’s Golden Driller statue represents a mainstay of Tulsa pride. On Wednesday, the city painted the statue to match the likeness of Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Cities across the country have long been aware that Tesla is looking for the site of their new Cybertruck factory. As a result, we’ve seen a number of outrageous attempts to attract the company’s attention. But the new statue in Tulsa may represent one of the most bizarre spectacles of all.

A news report over at Tulsa world interviewed Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum. Bynum said, “We believe there is such a common link between our spirit here in Tulsa — a belief in having a big dream and not listening to the naysayers,” He continues. “And not just having that dream, but also making it happen. And we see Elon Musk and Tesla doing the exact same thing, and so we are so excited as a community about the opportunity in front of us to work together.”
