Curious about the suspension system in the new Tesla Model Y? In a new YouTube video from Munro Live, viewers get some valuable insights on the electric vehicle’s suspension. Furthermore, the video also makes some apt comparisons between the Model Y and the Model 3.
As the video highlights, the Model Y and the Model 3 have similar suspension systems. In many regards they are quite comparable, save for a few key differences.
Upon an initial look at the Model 3 damper, you can see that there are bands used to clamp parts together. The Model Y, instead, uses screws to perform the same function. A look at the rear suspension shows that one of the lower control arms on the Model Y even has a part labeled “Model 3.” As the video mentions, this is not necessarily a bad sign. Rather, the reuse of a specific part shows a manufacturer’s commitment to using quality parts that work. This type of consistency is what drivers have come to expect from Tesla by this point.
Lower control arms with increased width also mark a substantial change in the Model Y’s suspension system. With a further analysis of such details, it’s clear that Tesla took their time perfecting every aspect of their new electric vehicle.
