Starlink is inviting some of its earliest customers to swap their first-generation round dish for a new Standard kit at no cost.
The offer is outlined in a company support article reviewed by Tesla North, and follows earlier free hardware moves such as Gen 1 router replacements.
Eligible customers who were among the first to connect with Starlink, and who are still using a first-generation kit, can receive a new Standard kit free of charge. Starlink says it will also provide a free mount, and customers can opt in for free installation. Invitations go out by email.
The Standard 4X box listed in the article includes a Standard 4X dish with a built-in kickstand, Router 3, a power supply, a Starlink cable and a power cable. That rectangular kit replaces the original motorized round dish many beta and early residential customers still run.
Once the new terminal comes online, or 14 days after delivery, whichever comes first, the old kit is deactivated. Starlink says the old hardware will no longer work, cannot be transferred, and does not need to be returned.
Beyond the router swap, SpaceX has also expanded free Mini rentals for Residential customers and previously restored a free Mini perk in Canada and the U.S. Early Canadian dish owners who still use a round terminal may want to watch their inbox for an invitation.
Starlink has not published a full country list or an end date for the upgrade in the support article. Are you still on a first-generation round dish, and would you take the free Standard kit if the email arrives?
