Next-Gen Roadster Spotted at SpaceX a Day After Its 4-Day LA Run

Tesla’s next-generation Roadster was photographed at SpaceX’s Hawthorne facility in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 28, a day after the car’s four-day public display at the Petersen Automotive Museum wrapped up.
The photos were shared on X by @mpgenchau and show the silver Roadster outdoors beside SpaceX branding, with no Tesla or SpaceX statement explaining why the prototype was there. Hawthorne sits next to Tesla’s design studio, where the car was styled.
That sighting is the new piece. The same prototype spent October 24 through October 27 in the Petersen’s main lobby so the public could see it up close after the October 14 unveil, and design chief Franz von Holzhausen even drove it to a museum dinner during that run.
Press materials released last week also filled in trim details, including a Performance top speed of 210 mph, after Tesla’s own cockpit video showed Track Mode and thruster readouts. None of those earlier posts put the car on the SpaceX campus.
Neither company has said whether the visit was for thruster work, a photo stop, or something else. Production timing and a factory site are still open questions from Tesla’s recent updates.
Would a SpaceX neighbor stop change how you read the Roadster’s cold-gas thruster plan?
