Tesla has stopped taking new orders for the Model 3 Premium in Canada, with both the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions now grayed out in its online configurator. That’s according to a banner on Tesla’s Canadian design page, which points to the company’s import quota as the reason.
The banner reads: “Model 3 Premium orders paused after high demand exhausted Tesla’s import quota. Ordering resumes if Govt of Canada issues more quota, expected March 2027.” Both Premium trims had been listed from $483 per month before the pause.

The Model 3 Performance, listed from $936 per month, is still available to order, so it’s now the only Model 3 Canadians can configure on Tesla’s site. That’s a big jump for buyers who were shopping the Premium trims, including the dual-motor version Tesla added in June.
Tesla’s wording suggests demand was strong enough to use up its full allotment, and it ties the restart to a decision from the federal government rather than to anything on its own end. The March 2027 date is described as expected, not promised, so the pause could run longer if more quota doesn’t come through. The import question has been hanging over Canadian Tesla pricing for months, as covered in a look at trade talks earlier this year.
A few things are still unclear. Tesla hasn’t said whether existing Model 3 Premium orders that haven’t been delivered yet are affected, whether any Premium inventory cars remain for sale, or whether the Performance trim could face the same limit later on.
