Tesla app version 4.61.0 is rolling out with passkey sign-in, so Face ID or Touch ID can replace typing a password after a one-time setup under Security and Privacy.
Passkeys keep a device-bound credential on the phone instead of a reusable password string. Once added in Sign In Management, the app can unlock the account with biometrics. Tesla floated passkeys for account login earlier this year; this build puts that path in the current iOS app train.
An iOS app code tracker also flagged more plumbing in 4.61.0. The strings include Tesla Electric and VPP billing preferences, Optimus labeled as a home Energy site with dedicated charger IDs, and Tesla Electric Australia V3 fields for in-app utility signup such as NMI and DNSP. Those lines can ship dormant, so they read as backend hooks rather than a public product launch.
The same app generation also carried Supercharger Site Maps onto phones after Tesla Charging confirmed the feature. Tesla has not published a release note spelling out the Optimus or Australia strings.
