Starlink Powers IndyCar Freedom 250 FOX Broadcast in D.C.

Starlink said on August 23 that its network is enabling reliable connectivity at IndyCar races across the country, as the satellite service made its first-time IndyCar sponsorship turn at the Freedom 250 on Washington, D.C. streets around the National Mall.
“High-speed internet for high-speed racing. Starlink enables reliable connectivity at IndyCar races across the country,” the company posted on X, quoting a thank-you from the series’ broadcast partner.
INDYCAR on FOX thanked Starlink for helping power FOX Sports’ high-speed IndyCar broadcasts and bringing viewers every bit of the action from the Freedom 250. The street race ran Sunday, August 23, past the U.S. Capitol and along the Mall, a one-off venue that pulled in aerospace and tech brands that rarely buy into open-wheel racing.
FOX Sports framed the D.C. weekend as its most ambitious live motorsports production, with more than 90 cameras scattered across the temporary course. Street circuits squeeze fiber and cell capacity hard. Low-Earth-orbit bandwidth gives production trucks another path for cameras, graphics, and remote feeds when the usual pipes are already maxed for a major live show. Starlink’s public post framed the weekend as proof the constellation can ride with IndyCar beyond a single D.C. date.
The same constellation is already scaling in aviation and maritime. Qatar Airways just said it flies 150 Starlink-equipped widebodies, and Hyundai Glovis is rolling Starlink across a 45-ship logistics fleet. Freedom 250 puts that enterprise pitch on a racetrack in the nation’s capital for a Sunday FOX audience.
