SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has shared major new milestones for Starlink during an all-hands company meeting, revealing that the satellite internet service now reaches more than 13 million subscribers across 167 countries.
The satellite network currently operates with nearly 11,000 satellites in orbit and supports over 22 million monthly mobile users. Musk outlined an ambitious vision to expand the constellation to 100,000 satellites in the coming years. He explained that the rapid rise of artificial intelligence could expand global internet traffic by 1,000 times over the next five years, making orbital infrastructure essential to carry up to 90 percent of world web traffic.
“Our AI revenue will exceed all other SpaceX revenue probably next month (September), and will significantly exceed all other SpaceX revenue in Q4. AI has become an extremely important part of SpaceX’s future,” said Musk.
To support expanding computing demands, SpaceX is also aiming to increase its power capacity dramatically. Musk noted the company currently draws 1.4 gigawatts of power and targets 10 gigawatts by the end of next year. He projected that reaching that scale could generate between $300 billion and $500 billion in annual revenue.
Beyond commercial expansion, Starlink continues to provide emergency relief on the ground. Following a devastating earthquake in Colombia, the company made its service completely free for new and existing users through September 12. SpaceX is actively delivering terminals to local emergency responders to restore crucial communication links while ground networks remain offline.
