Frontier Airlines has announced a partnership with SpaceX to equip its fleet with Starlink satellite internet, aiming to offer high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi onboard its aircraft.

The Denver-based ultra-low-cost carrier plans to launch its first Starlink-equipped flight in early 2027. Frontier will become the first airline in the United States to offer passenger access to Starlink through a new system managed directly by the SpaceX subsidiary.

According to the airline, the gate-to-gate service will support high-definition streaming, online gaming, and general web browsing. The connection will also be utilized by flight crews, maintenance teams, and ground operations to streamline communication and flight services.

The initiative is part of a larger, coordinated effort by Frontier’s parent company, Indigo Partners. Along with Frontier, fellow Indigo portfolio airlines Wizz Air in Europe, Volaris in Mexico, JetSMART in South America, and Cebu Pacific in the Philippines plan to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft globally.

“Starlink transforms the onboard experience, giving customers the flexibility to work, stream, browse, and stay connected throughout their journey,” said Jimmy Dempsey, Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Airlines.

The transition to satellite-based Wi-Fi comes as Frontier continues to adjust its product offerings, which recently included the introduction of premium seating options and updates to its frequent flyer program.
