Tesla Powers Up Sweden: 244 New Supercharger Stalls Ready for Action
Tesla is significantly expanding its footprint in Sweden, with 244 new Supercharger stalls now prepared to be energized. The move comes as the automaker continues to push for critical infrastructure growth to support the country’s transition to electric vehicles.
The expansion is particularly notable given the ongoing labor challenges in the region. For over two years, Tesla has been embroiled in a conflict with Swedish unions, which has led to sympathy strikes and blockades by electricians refusing to connect new charging sites to the power grid. To bypass these hurdles, Tesla has previously resorted to innovative solutions, such as using on-site Megapack batteries and even biodiesel generators to power certain locations.
Tesla maintains that its Supercharger network remains the most affordable and vital charging option for Swedish drivers. The addition of these 244 stalls is expected to help alleviate congestion, which has been a recurring issue during peak travel seasons, such as the winter vacation rush to northern ski resorts.
By continuing to scale its network despite local friction, Tesla aims to ensure that both its own customers and non-Tesla EV owners have access to reliable, high-speed charging across the country.
