Tesla Japan’s New Deal: 3 Years of Unlimited Free Charging for New Buyers
Tesla Japan has launched a new campaign offering three years of unlimited free Supercharging for customers who purchase a new vehicle this spring. The promotion is designed to help drivers bypass surging gas prices, which Tesla estimates could save the average driver roughly 291,000 yen over the three-year period.
To qualify for the offer, customers must order a new Model 3 or Model Y between April 1 and June 30, 2026, and take delivery of the vehicle by the end of June. The deal applies to both custom orders and existing inventory, though used vehicles and cars used for commercial purposes like taxis or ride-sharing are excluded.
Tesla is highlighting its infrastructure as a key selling point for the deal. The company now operates 726 Superchargers across 146 locations throughout Japan. This all-you-can-charge benefit is linked directly to the owner’s Tesla account, though it cannot be transferred to other vehicles or third parties.
The timing of the campaign coincides with significant government incentives. In addition to the three years of free fuel, some Tesla models in Japan remain eligible for CEV subsidies of up to 1.27 million yen. Tesla’s calculations for the promo assume a gas price of 194 yen per litre and an average fuel efficiency of 20km/L for a comparable internal combustion engine vehicle.
While the offer is a major draw for new buyers, Tesla noted that delivery by the June 30 deadline is not guaranteed and depends on registration procedures and vehicle availability. Owners are also reminded that while the charging itself is free, standard idle fees still apply if a car is left at a station after its charging session is complete.
