Elon Musk: FSD 14.3 Hits Employee Testing, Wide Release Expected This Week
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on April 1 (this can’t be a cruel April Fools Day joke!) that the company has begun internal testing for the highly anticipated Full Self-Driving (FSD) version 14.3.
According to Musk, the software is already being used by Tesla staff to iron out any remaining bugs before it reaches the general public. “FSD 14.3 is in Tesla employee beta now and will probably go to wide release end of week,” Musk stated.
Version 14.3 is not just another incremental patch as it represents a massive architectural shift for Tesla’s AI. Musk has previously described this specific version as the last big piece of the puzzle for the software’s reasoning and logic capabilities. Earlier this year, the CEO went as far as to claim that by version 14.3, the car would feel almost like it is a sentient being due to its improved decision making.
The update features a significantly larger neural network with advanced reinforcement learning which helps the car reason through complex urban environments rather than just following rigid code. One of the biggest complaints from current v14.2 users involves routing errors and missed turns, and version 14.3 is expected to finally address these persistent navigation bugs. Rumors also suggest this build could finally include the Reverse Summon feature, internally called Banish, allowing the car to drop a driver at a door and find its own parking spot. Now that is the holy grail of an automated Tesla with FSD and would be the best party trick.
This update is specifically optimized for Tesla’s latest AI4 hardware. Owners on older Hardware 3 will likely have to wait until June for a Lite version of the v14 stack. While previous versions introduced animal detection and school zone speed compliance, they also faced criticism for being hesitant in traffic. Tesla fans are hoping 14.3 delivers the smoothness and confidence Musk has been promising since late 2025.
If the internal testing goes well over the next few days, Tesla owners could see the update hitting their vehicles as early as this weekend. Again we know Musk’s timelines can be delayed so don’t get your hopes up just yet.
