Miri Regev Signals Imminent Tesla FSD Launch in Israel

Israeli Minister of Transport Miri Regev has sparked significant excitement among local Tesla owners by posting “Coming soon…” on X.

Her post was a quote-tweet of Elon Musk’s recent call for drivers to test out the supervised version of Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. This brief message is the strongest indication yet that the Ministry of Transport is preparing to officially authorize the software for general use across the country.

The move follows a series of regulatory milestones aimed at making Israel a leader in autonomous transportation. In early February 2026, the Ministry granted Tesla permission to begin supervised trials on public roads. This pilot program allowed vehicles to operate autonomously while requiring a human driver to remain fully attentive.

Regev has been a vocal proponent of the technology, previously meeting with Tesla executives in Germany to discuss turning Israel into a “smart transportation hub.”

For the thousands of Israelis who have already paid approximately 36,000 NIS for the FSD package, this update represents the end of a long wait. While the system still requires active driver supervision, its official rollout is seen as a precursor to more advanced autonomous services, such as a potential Robotaxi pilot. Regev emphasized that integrating these smart systems is a critical step in strengthening road safety and reducing accidents caused by human error.

The timing of the announcement suggests that Israel may be among the first markets outside of North America to move from the trial phase to wide-scale availability. This alignment with Musk’s global push for FSD adoption highlights the growing partnership between the electric vehicle manufacturer and Israeli transport regulators.
