Tesla Introduces New ‘Immersive Sound X’ for Model Y
Tesla has officially launched a new audio feature called Immersive Sound X to enhance the entertainment experience in the Model Y. The technology focuses on creating a cinematic 3D soundstage by using advanced algorithms to separate different parts of an audio track.
The system analyzes music in real-time to pull direct sounds like vocals or lead instruments to the front of the cabin. At the same time, it diffuses ambient elements like echoes and reverb to the rear and side speakers. This creates a virtual environment that mimics the feeling of being in a concert hall or a professional recording studio.
Currently, the feature is rolling out specifically for the new Model Y L variant. This version of the electric crossover features an upgraded 18-speaker system, which provides more precision and power compared to previous configurations. Unlike standard surround sound that requires specific formats, Immersive Sound X works with any stereo source, including popular streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
According to @electricfuture5 from Sydney, New South Wales, a screenshot shows off the new feature.
Owners can manually adjust the “size” of the virtual space using a slider on the touchscreen to fit their personal preferences. There is also an Auto mode that intelligently changes the immersion level depending on whether the occupants are listening to music, a podcast, or watching a video.
While the feature is making its debut in international markets like Australia and New Zealand, we’ll have to wait and see if this feature ever makes it to other Tesla vehicles.
