Tesla Reportedly Bringing New HD Screen and Dark Cabin to Model 3
Tesla is reportedly preparing two significant interior upgrades for the Model 3 that would bring the electric sedan into alignment with recent refreshes seen on other models. The updates were discovered through backend coding in Tesla’s European and Chinese web configurators by @BERKANT, suggesting a global rollout for the 2026 model year is imminent.
The findings indicate that Tesla is moving to satisfy long-standing customer requests regarding both cabin aesthetics and the quality of the primary interface.
The Move to a Black Headliner
According to digital evidence shared on social media, Tesla is reportedly introducing an Alcantara-style black headliner for the Model 3. This has been a top request from owners who have long noted that even the “black” interior package came with a contrasting grey ceiling.
Tesla recently made the switch to a darker headliner for the Model Y in several markets, including North America. The reported internal code “Premium Black” suggests the Model 3 is now slated for the same monochromatic, premium look, likely starting with the Performance and high-end trim levels.
Upgraded 16-Inch QHD Display
The second major change reportedly appearing in Tesla’s parts catalogue is a new “16-inch QHD” display. This would be a notable step up in both size and clarity from the current hardware.
The high-definition screen is reportedly the same unit found in the Model Y Performance. If the reports are accurate, the 2026 Model 3 will benefit from a sharper, more responsive user interface for navigation, entertainment, and vehicle controls.
While these changes are currently showing up in overseas build data, Tesla typically standardizes its manufacturing across all regions. Let’s wait and see if these upgrades end up being a reality or not.
