Tesla Just Removed Mileage Limits on Its Two Best-Selling Cars
Great news for Tesla buyers down under—Tesla has just upgraded its New Vehicle Limited Warranty in Australia and New Zealand to unlimited kilometres for 5 years on all new Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
The updated policy applies to every Model 3 and Model Y delivered on or after January 1, 2026, removing the previous kilometre cap entirely for the full five-year period.
As part of the change, Roadside Assistance is now included for the same 5-year term, giving owners extra peace of mind whether they’re doing daily commutes or long road trips.
Here’s the current New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage for the basic vehicle on new Model 3 and Model Y (excluding battery/drive unit, which is typically 8 years with mileage and retention guarantees):
- Canada: 4 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first
- United States: 4 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first
- Europe: Generally 4 years or 80,000 km (most EU countries); 4 years or 50,000 miles in the UK
- Asia: Varies by market, but typically 4 years or 80,000 km (e.g., similar in China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan)
This move makes Tesla’s warranty even more competitive in the region and should help ease range (and mileage) anxiety for prospective buyers. If you’re picking up a new Model 3 or Model Y in AU or NZ this year, you’re getting one of the strongest coverage packages available.
