Tessie Adds Detailed Full Self-Driving Usage Tracking

Tessie, one of the most popular third-party companion apps for Tesla owners, just rolled out a meaningful update that gives drivers deeper insight into how often they’re actually using Full Self-Driving.

According to the latest Tessie release notes published on the App Store, the app now supports official FSD (Supervised) usage tracking pulled directly from the vehicle itself. This means Tessie users can finally see detailed, first-party-backed data on how and where Tesla’s Full Self-Driving system is being used during real-world drives.

The update, version 15.6.9 on iOS, introduces several new analytics-focused features. Under Drives > Analytics, users can now view trends that break down how frequently FSD is engaged over time. Tessie has also added trip visuals, allowing drivers to replay past routes with color-coded indicators showing exactly when Full Self-Driving was active. For those who rely on raw data, FSD distance is now included in drive exports, making it easier to analyze usage externally.

Developers and power users also benefit from new API access, which opens up both real-time and historical Self-Driving statistics. This builds nicely on Tessie’s reputation for deep data access, especially following the launch of its Profiler feature earlier this year, which brought OBD-level vehicle data to users without requiring additional hardware.

There are a few caveats. The new tracking features require Full Self-Driving version 14 (or later) and Tesla vehicle firmware version 2025.44.25.5 or newer. Tesla debuted a dedicated “Self-Driving Stats” section in its vehicle software with the release of FSD 14.2 last month. Tessie says the update also includes various minor improvements beyond FSD tracking, though the headline feature is clearly the new autonomy analytics.

For Tesla owners, this update lands at an interesting time. Tesla has been steadily expanding FSD globally and aggressively iterating on version 14, while drivers and onlookers debate how often the system is truly usable day-to-day. Tessie’s new tools provide a clearer, data-driven look at that reality, rather than relying on estimates or anecdotal impressions.

As one of the most feature-rich Tesla apps across iOS, Android, and smartwatches, Tessie continues to differentiate itself by surfacing the data that drivers want to see. With Self-Driving tracking now built in, the app becomes even more compelling for owners who want to understand how autonomy fits into their daily driving.
