Starlink Secures Big Wi-Fi Deal With 5 Korean Airlines

Starlink is expanding its footprint in aviation once again, this time landing a major multi-airline deal in South Korea. Korean Air has announced that it, along with fellow Hanjin Group carriers Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul, will adopt Starlink’s high-speed satellite internet fleetwide over the next several years.

“Starlink will deliver reliable, high-speed internet to Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul fleetwide,” Starlink noted in a post on X. The deal follows Starlink’s commercial launch in South Korea earlier this week and marks the first time a Korean airline has committed to using Starlink for in-flight connectivity.

According to the Hanjin Group’s news release, the rollout begins later this year with installation preparation and testing, with the earliest service expected as soon as Q3 2026. Korean Air and Asiana Airlines will prioritize their Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, with Korean Air targeting full fleet installation by the end of 2027. Jin Air will start with its 737-8s, while Air Busan and Air Seoul will determine their installation order internally.

“Connectivity is an essential part of the travel experience, and with Starlink, our customers will stay connected with fast and seamless internet,” a Korean Air representative said. “As Korea’s flag carrier and a leading global airline, we are committed to upgrading our services and infrastructure to deliver an elevated passenger journey as we strive to become the world’s most loved airline.”

Chad Gibbs, Vice President of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, added: “We’re thrilled to deliver industry-leading, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi fleetwide to Korean Air and Hanjin Group airlines and their guests. With Starlink onboard, you’ll be able to continue working productively, stream your favorite shows, and game just as you can do on the ground.”

Starlink’s aviation momentum has accelerated sharply in recent months. Just last month, Emirates and flydubai confirmed big Starlink deals, joining a growing roster of airlines adopting or committing to Starlink Wi-Fi, including United Airlines, Qatar Airways, WestJet, ZipAir, JSX, and more. British Airways also recently announced plans to offer free Starlink-powered Wi-Fi fleetwide starting in 2026.

With five more carriers now onboard, South Korea’s biggest airlines are joining a global shift toward faster, lower-latency in-flight connectivity. And given the pace of airline sign-ups, Starlink’s aviation footprint is on track to grow even more rapidly in 2026 and beyond.
