Tesla Model 3 Refresh with Turn Signal Stalk Arrives at China Showrooms

Tesla’s refreshed Model 3 is now starting to arrive at showrooms across China, according to photos shared by a Tesla North reader who reached out on X. The updated Model 3 features all-black exterior logos, a front bumper camera with a washer, and most notably, the return of the turn signal stalk — a feature that many owners have been asking Tesla to bring back.

Tesla officially reintroduced the turn signal stalk on the Model 3 in China back in August, after removing it as part of the 2023 “Highland” refresh. The automaker also began offering an RMB 2,499 (around $350 USD) retrofit for existing owners without the stalk, letting them add a physical indicator control once again. The decision came after driver feedback from both Chinese and international markets pointed to usability concerns with the previous capacitive-touch controls on the steering wheel.
The refreshed Model 3 also includes a front-facing camera on the lower bumper, helping improve visibility for parking maneuvers, along with adaptive cruise and Autopilot systems. Tesla recently confirmed, however, that it has no plans to offer a front bumper camera retrofit for existing vehicles.
In China, Tesla’s lineup also includes the Model 3+, a long-range version exclusive to the market that offers up to 830 km of range on the CLTC cycle — the longest of any Model 3 variant. The new showroom sightings of the updated Model 3 suggest that customer deliveries could be imminent.
The update comes as Tesla continues to roll out similar design and hardware refreshes worldwide. Earlier this week, the company brought back the turn signal stalk in the U.S. alongside the launch of the new entry-level Model 3 Standard, the automaker’s cheapest offering to date. Tesla has also been reintroducing the stalk across other markets, including in Europe and Australia.
With the new Model 3 now spotted at local Tesla stores, deliveries to Chinese customers could begin as early as later this month, marking another step in Tesla’s global refresh rollout.
