Tesla has rolled out a new update for its Robotaxi app on iOS, adding several small but meaningful quality-of-life improvements as the company continues preparing for a wider expansion of its autonomous ride-hailing service.

According to X user @klwtts, the latest version of the Robotaxi app now displays low phone battery alerts and live traffic information directly within the interface. As shown in screenshots shared online, when a user’s phone charge drops too low, the app surfaces a pop-up warning that reads: “Charge Your Phone Soon. Auto-unlock relies on your phone’s battery. Keep it charged to ensure a seamless pickup.” This message hints at how central smartphone connectivity is to the overall Robotaxi experience — especially for vehicle unlocking and trip management.

Tesla has been rapidly iterating the Robotaxi app since it first launched a controlled beta of its driverless ride-hailing service in Austin, Texas, back in July. The app itself topped the App Store’s free Travel apps chart in early September upon its public release, underscoring the strong consumer interest in Tesla’s autonomous platform.

Last month, eagle-eyed users also spotted a new Accessibility section within the Robotaxi app that confirmed Tesla’s plans to eventually offer wheelchair-accessible vehicle (WAV) rides. Combined with today’s update, it’s clear Tesla is working to polish the user experience while broadening its potential reach.

The Robotaxi app remains exclusive to iOS for now, though an Android version is expected in the near future as Tesla gears up to bring the service to additional U.S. cities.
