Tesla App Gets New AI Support Agent

Tesla has quietly rolled out a new AI-powered support tool inside its mobile app, giving owners a faster way to get answers to product-related questions without needing to call or email customer service.

The new feature is called “Tesla Assist” and can be accessed by opening the app’s menu and tapping the question mark in the top-right corner. From there, users can type in queries on a wide range of topics, such as vehicle specifications, maintenance information, or how to use certain in-app features.

For example, if you’re thinking about replacing the tires on your Model Y, you could simply ask Tesla Assist what size and brand your vehicle came with from the factory. It’s designed to handle general support queries across Tesla’s product ecosystem, making it a handy resource for both seasoned owners and new buyers alike. Tesla hasn’t confirmed whether the AI backend powering Tesla Assist is Grok, the conversational chatbot developed by Musk’s AI startup xAI. However, the timing is notable — just last month, Tesla began rolling out in-vehicle Grok integration with its 2025.26 software update, enabling drivers to interact with the AI assistant directly from their car’s infotainment system.

The addition of Tesla Assist to the mobile app could be a sign that the company is moving toward a unified AI support experience across all platforms. While it remains to be seen if the two systems will merge, this new app-based assistant is already a convenient way for owners to get quick, accurate answers on the go.
