Classic Ford Mustang Turned into Tesla with FSD [VIDEO]

Tesla Full Self-Driving (FSD) running in a 1966 Ford Mustang? Yes, you read that right.

X user @Tutrifour recently shared a jaw-dropping video of his classic Mustang autonomously navigating streets using Tesla’s FSD software. In what he calls “probably the first non-Tesla running FSD,” this resto-mod blends vintage Detroit muscle with some of the most advanced autonomous driving tech available today.

The two-door Mustang coupe, finished in a stunning red, has been completely overhauled under the hood with Tesla internals. That includes not just the powertrain, but also the full suite of Autopilot hardware, which @Tutrifour confirmed took extensive effort to calibrate. Close-up images show Tesla’s FSD cameras cleanly integrated into the windshield and both front fenders — with the placement having to be dialed in perfectly to enable proper system functionality. The vehicle was even retrofitted with a Cybertruck steering wheel.

The builder said it “took a while adjusting the repeaters and finally got them to calibrate today,” hinting at just how complex the project was. Integrating Tesla’s tightly controlled FSD hardware/software stack into a non-Tesla vehicle is no small feat, and making it work without access to Tesla’s native integration environment likely involved reverse engineering, custom mounting solutions, and painstaking system tuning.

The project earned high praise from Tesla’s own Wes Morrill, the lead Cybertruck engineer, who responded to @Tutrifour’s post: “This is the hands down best conversion I’ve seen. Not only integrated the powertrain but to have autopilot working. And to do it in a beautiful classic car. Well. Freaking. Done.”

@Tutrifour also shared a follow-up video showing that Tesla’s Summon feature works too, letting the Mustang creep out of a parking space autonomously. Watch Tesla FSD driving a converted 1966 Ford Mustang in the video below:
