SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet is now officially available as an after‑sales upgrade for Embraer’s Praetor 600, Praetor 500, Legacy 500, and Legacy 450 business jets, the Brazilian planemaker announced on Wednesday.
The high‑speed, low‑latency Wi‑Fi solution will be provided through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed in partnership with Nextant Aerospace, the engineering arm of Flexjet — one of Embraer’s largest executive jet customers. The Praetor 500 and Legacy 450 have already received FAA approval for installation, while the Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 are expected to be certified in the third quarter of 2025. Brazil’s ANAC is targeting certification in Q4, with EASA approval expected in early 2026.

Embraer is the third largest producer of civil aircraft worldwide, behind Boeing and Airbus. Charter carrier JSX outfitted its entire fleet of 40 Embraer regional jets with Starlink back in 2023, and earlier this year, United Airlines received approval to install Starlink Wi‑Fi on its Embraer 175 regional aircraft. However, Starlink encountered issues on United Express E175 jets and the deployment was temporarily suspended.

Starlink provides high‑speed internet using a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, delivering connectivity even in remote areas or over oceans. With this new Embraer offering, operators of Praetor and Legacy jets can now equip their aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi directly through the manufacturer, ensuring seamless integration and support.
