Boring Company Announces New Tunnel Loop in Nashville, Tennessee

Elon Musk’s The Boring Company has officially announced plans to build a new underground tunnel system in Nashville, Tennessee. “The Boring Company is coming to the State of Tennessee,” the company’s official X account announced in a post on Monday.
Dubbed the “Music City Loop,” the project will connect downtown Nashville and the Music City Convention Center to the Nashville International Airport (BNA) in just eight minutes.
Construction on the initial segment is expected to begin in Fall 2025, with the first operational section launching as early as Spring 2026. Notably, the entire system will be funded privately—with zero taxpayer dollars involved.
Passengers will travel exclusively in Tesla vehicles within the tunnels, which are expected to move thousands of people per hour while removing a significant number of vehicles from local roadways and state highways, helping reduce congestion. Built using The Boring Company’s proprietary U.S.-made tunneling equipment and technology, the Music City Loop will initially operate beneath state-owned roads.
Long-term, the tunnel system could be expanded to serve additional communities with over 40 potential stations.
This announcement comes after the success of The Boring Company’s Las Vegas Loop, which has already transported over 3 million passengers and continues to grow. The Vegas Loop system also recently earned a Gold Standard Award for excellence from the Department of Homeland Security, achieving an unprecedented 99.51% on its BASE safety and security assessment — the highest score ever awarded to any transit system.
With this new project, The Boring Company is bringing its innovative and scalable transportation solution to the Southeast, backed by strong partnerships with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Nashville Airport Authority, the Music City Convention Center, and the Nashville Chamber of Commerce.
