Rimac Nevera R EV Sets New 0-60 mph Record and More

Rimac’s latest electric hypercar, the Nevera R, has smashed its own records—again.

Unveiled in August 2024, the Nevera R has now officially beaten every performance benchmark previously set by the standard Nevera, establishing a stunning 24 new world records. That includes clocking a blistering 0-60 mph time of 1.66 seconds (0.08 seconds faster than its advertised 1.74 seconds), making it the world’s fastest-accelerating production car — electric or otherwise.

The Nevera R also reclaimed the coveted 0-400-0 km/h (0-249-0 mph) title, completing the run in just 25.79 seconds — over 2 seconds faster than the previous record holder.

With a monstrous 2,107 hp delivered through four electric motors, Rimac’s latest creation isn’t just quick in a straight line. It pairs a revised aerodynamic package with specially developed Michelin tires and an upgraded torque vectoring system for better handling and traction.

The record-setting runs were conducted at the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) facility in Germany, the same track where the original Nevera made history back in 2023. All tests were performed in the Nevera R’s dedicated high-speed mode and were independently verified by Dewesoft, a global leader in performance data acquisition.

Rimac specifically set out to break these records as part of a final validation program ahead of the Nevera R’s first customer deliveries. “When we first introduced Nevera it almost seemed like the pinnacle of hypercar performance had been reached. In a single generation, we had created a performance jump that previously would have taken decades,” said Rimac founder and President Mate Rimac.

“But now, through relentless innovation, Nevera R goes even faster, while still maintaining much of the comfort and practicality that makes the Nevera a real, usable daily car. Breaking records is in our DNA, and we won’t stop here.”

Limited to just 40 units worldwide, the Nevera R starts at €2.3 million (about $2.7 million USD), making it not just one of the fastest cars in the world, but also one of the most exclusive (no, we didn’t misspell expensive, although that’s true as well).
