Starlink Launches Performance Kit for Extreme Connectivity

SpaceX’s Starlink has rolled out its most rugged internet solution to date: the Starlink Performance Kit, designed for high-speed connectivity in the world’s harshest environments.

Built with an aluminum enclosure and rated IP69K for water and dust protection, the kit can deliver download speeds over 400 Mbps, even in extreme weather, remote job sites, and mobile use cases like agriculture, construction, and marine operations.

According to Starlink and newly released technical documentation, the Performance Kit is:

  • Capable of surviving winds over 270 km/h (170+ mph)
  • Functional in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F)
  • Rated for 10 years of durability in corrosive saltwater and high-vibration conditions
  • Able to melt snow at rates up to 13.2 cm/hr (5.2 in/hr)

The hardware includes a rack-mountable Advanced Power Supply that supports both AC and DC power, with failover options for mission-critical uptime. It’s been tested to withstand 50g shocks, 1.25-inch hail impacts, and military-grade vibration and drop standards. Oh, and SpaceX showed it can withstand Falcon 9 rockets landing beside it on a drone ship in the ocean.

Even better, Starlink says gigabit speeds will be enabled via software upgrades in 2026, with no need to replace the hardware.

The Performance Kit comes with a 3-year warranty and is already available for permanent installation with your choice of mount. It’s aimed squarely at users in remote or demanding settings who can’t afford unreliable connectivity—whether you’re managing a mountaintop weather station or hauling gear in a mining corridor.
