Tesla Rolls Out Adaptive Headlights in U.S. and Canada with Update

On Thursday, Tesla announced the rollout of its advanced adaptive headlights feature for vehicles in the United States and Canada, marking a significant enhancement in nighttime driving safety. The feature, part of the 2025 Spring Update (version 2025.14), is now available for Tesla models equipped with the necessary matrix LED headlights.

According to Tesla, “Adaptive headlights have small LED pixels that turn on & off individually to optimize driver visibility & prevent glare for other road users.”

This technology allows the headlights to dynamically adjust by selectively dimming specific pixels, ensuring maximum visibility for the driver while reducing glare for oncoming traffic and cyclists. The system uses external cameras to detect other road users, enabling precise control over the light beam.

Which Tesla Models Have Adaptive Headlights?

The adaptive headlights feature is available on the following Tesla models equipped with matrix LED headlights, which have been included in vehicles manufactured since late 2022:

  • Model S (refreshed models, 2021-2025)
  • Model 3 (new and legacy models)
  • Model X (refreshed models, 2021-2025)
  • Model Y (new and legacy models)

Notably, the Cybertruck does not support this feature due to hardware limitations, as it lacks the required matrix LED headlights.

How to Check for Adaptive Headlights

Tesla owners can verify if their vehicle supports adaptive headlights by navigating to the vehicle’s control menu. If the feature is available, a toggle will appear under Controls > Lights > Adaptive Headlights on the driver display. This option is automatically enabled for compatible vehicles after installing the Spring Update.

Spring Update Details
