Tesla Showcases New Model Y Features and Upgrades in Video
Tesla has revealed more details about its new Model Y, enhancing its best-selling electric SUV with design tweaks, improved efficiency, and new technology.
A four-minute video released by the company highlights the key upgrades, including a sleeker exterior, a quieter cabin, and enhanced safety features.
Sharper Design and Better Aerodynamics
The new Model Y sports a redesigned front with a light bar that gives it a wider, more planted look. A new aerodynamically efficient thermoplastic spoiler contributes to better range, and the rear features a full-width reflective tail lamp that Tesla designers describe as an “afterburner” effect.
Improved Efficiency and Comfort
Tesla says the new Model Y achieves nearly 10% better efficiency by optimizing every component, including newly designed tires that reduce rolling resistance while improving handling and road noise. A revamped suspension system aims to provide a smoother ride, with less impact harshness over bumps.
Cabin noise is also significantly reduced, thanks to new acoustic glass and upgraded sealing materials, cutting interior sound levels by 20%. Inside, the seats have been redesigned with enhanced heating and cooling, and ambient lighting now offers a million color options for a more premium feel.
More Cargo Space and Smart Storage
Tesla has made cargo access easier with a wider rear hatch opening and over 30 cubic feet of storage space, including extra compartments under the floor. The frunk (front trunk) is now more utility-focused, featuring a drain plug for easy cleaning and upcoming accessories.
Next-Gen Safety and Autopilot 4
The new Model Y comes with Autopilot 4, featuring a more powerful onboard computer and an upgraded nine-camera system for better object detection. A new 180-degree facial camera helps detect oncoming hazards, improving safety. Tesla claims the Model Y remains the safest car in its class, with a five-star crash rating and an advanced nine-airbag system.
Enhanced Infotainment and Entertainment
Passengers now get a more immersive entertainment system, including a rear screen with support for dual Bluetooth headset pairing, allowing kids to watch movies while parents enjoy peace and quiet. Tesla has also improved voice recognition and call quality by using new transparent acoustic materials for better microphone placement.
Like all Teslas, the 2025 Model Y will continue to improve with over-the-air software updates, adding new features and optimizations over time. Check out the full video titled, “Designing New Model Y”, below:
